How to trade Bank of England days
Sterling and short-sterling futures move on two things: the Bank Rate decision itself and the vote split published in the same release. A held rate with a three-way split reads far more dovish than a unanimous hold, so the minutes often matter more than the headline. On Monetary Policy Report meetings the forecast for inflation two and three years out, plus the Governor's press conference, tends to drive the second leg of the move. Gilt yields and the GBP curve usually settle only after the press conference ends.

The Bank of England announces its decision at 12:00pm UK time, with the Governor's press conference at 12:30pm on most decision days. Elsewhere that is:
- New York: 7:00am (8:00am during the clock-change gaps in March and late October/early November).
