Stock Market Holidays 2026

The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ observe ten full trading holidays in 2026, plus two early-close sessions. On full closures the entire equity market — cash session, pre-market and after-hours — is shut. On early-close days the regular session ends at 1:00pm ET. Bond and futures markets may follow slightly different rules, but equity traders should treat this calendar as the authoritative schedule.

What traders watch around market holidays

Liquidity typically thins ahead of long weekends, widening spreads in futures and options just before the close. Gap risk is highest when a holiday falls on a Monday or Friday because two full trading sessions separate the last print from the reopen. Early-close days compress the regular session into 3.5 hours, so volatility per hour often rises and settlement prices for derivatives can print at unusual times.
