This week, as far as global market-moving events, we kick off on Tuesday with macroeconomic data in the US. ADP employment change weekly for a look at the labor market, durable goods orders, and CB consumer confidence to see the health of the consumer in the world's biggest economy.

Then on Wednesday, we have the Federal Reserve interest rate % decision where the base case generally, that is mostly a pause this time from the Fed. Yet, it's a difficult decision with energy prices so high and oil pumping on the chart and not just spiking but holding levels on the day range.

We could possibly see a surprise where they are more hawkish than expected and do hike rates another 0.25%. In that case of a surprise from consensus, we would see big volatility in currency markets with the dollar DXY index becoming very strong and weakness in opposing currency pairs such as the euro along with risk assets such as stock indexes.

FED RATE DECISION (OCTOBER 27–28 MEETING). CORE MACRO BACKDROP. Expectation: The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is widely expected to pause and keep the target Federal Funds rate unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%.

Key Drivers: Policymakers are balancing persistent inflation pressures—exacerbated by surging energy prices (Brent crude >$113) and sticky core metrics—against cooling economic data in specific high-debt sectors. The Fed is adopting a "wait-and-see" approach ahead of major upcoming GDP and PCE data releases.

MARKET-IMPLIED PROBABILITIES (CME FEDWATCH & OIS PRICING). Potential Move, Implied Market Probability, Current Target Band: No Change (Pause) ~90.4% 3.75%–4.00%. +25 bps Rate Hike ~9.6% 4.00%–4.25%. -25 bps Rate Cut <0.1% (Unpriced) 3.50%–3.75%.

FORWARD LOOK (DECEMBER & BEYOND). December Meeting: While a hold is heavily priced for this week, interest rate futures are currently pricing in a ~73% to 74% likelihood of a 25-basis-point rate hike at the December meeting. Market Focus: Attention during the press conference will center on whether Warsh signals an explicit tightening bias for the final meeting of the year.

Big Tech Earnings and Market Sentiment

On Wednesday, we also will see quarterly earning releases from mega-cap (market capitalization) tech companies Microsoft ticker name MSFT and Alphabet ticker name GOOGL after the closing bell. This which could overshadow the Fed decision and meeting if the Fed do just hold rates and sit on the fence with their stance on monetary policy with no little guidance.

Then the market could shrug off the Fed and move on to big tech earnings as the next market catalyst for traders, investors, and corporate companies to make their next risk-adjusted move. Essentially all the global financial markets and macro trends are in a way that people as a collective measure speculative risk as a collective.

Global Central Bank Policy and GDP Data

Thursday, the show's not over as we have US GDP, Gross Domestic Product (world's benchmark economic measure of growth and production). PCE price consumer expenditure data, the Federal Reserve preferred gauge of inflation, and the first bit of economic data after the Fed decision.

We also have an interest rate decision on the euro from the ECB European Central Bank. Then after the bell, big tech earning reports from another Mag Seven company Amazon ticker name AMZN. On Friday, there is an interest rate from the BoJ Bank of Japan where there was some speculation of them hiking rates after recent inflation.
